Exploring Jeju-si and Urban Challenges > Jeju-si, situated at the heart of Jeju Island, the most renowned tourist destination in South Korea, has been facing the challenge of a declining local population and a shrinking economy. The issue is crystal clear – the key to sustainable urban planning is not merely catering to tourists but prioritizing the well-being of the local residents. While tourists may come and go, it’s the residents who form the backbone of the city’s vitality and long-term prosperity.
